How does Invisalign work at YOR Dental in Salford Quays?

During your free consultation we will examine your teeth and take digital images of your mouth. These images will show you how your teeth look now, and using special technology called ClinCheck by Invisalign, will then show how your teeth will look both during and after treatment. You will be able to see the results of your teeth straightening before even starting the Invisalign treatment! Once you’re ready to go ahead with Invisalign, we will use these images to make up your series of bespoke clear aligners. We will invite you back to YOR Dental in Salford Quays where we will show you how to fit and remove your Invisalign braces.

You will be given several aligners in the series. It is important that you wear the first aligner for the prescribed time – usually a week – before you move on to the next set of aligners in the series.

Your treatment continues in this way until you reach the last set of Invisalign aligners, and your teeth are in their final position.

For the treatment to work, you must wear your Invisalign aligners for a minimum of 20 – 22 hours a day. For this reason, we suggest that you only remove your braces to eat, drink and brush your teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions about Invisalign®

Why do I need to change my aligners every week?

Your Invisalign treatment allows for the tiny movements in your teeth which happen gradually over time. It is necessary to move on to the next set of aligners in the series because each set of aligners fit your teeth at that exact moment in time.

Do I really have to remove my braces before eating and drinking?

We suggest only drinking cold water whilst wearing Invisalign. This is because dark-coloured drinks can end up staining your aligners which look unsightly and can be unhygienic. It’s important not to eat with your Invisalign aligners in your mouth as you could end up chewing straight through them.

Will my teeth stay straight after wearing Invisalign?

Unfortunately, teeth can move after wearing braces and so once you’ve completed your Invisalign treatment we recommend you wear a retainer to keep your teeth straight. This can take the form of a fixed wire retainer which is attached to the back of your teeth, or you can choose a removable retainer which you wear at night.
