What are composite veneers in Manchester?

Composite veneers cover the surface of your tooth using a thin piece of composite material. They work just like a false fingernail.

Composite veneers are placed on teeth to disguise:

  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Stains
  • Uneven or worn teeth
  • Gaps
  • Some minor misalignments

How do composite veneers work at YOR Dental in Salford Quays?

At your free consultation in Salford Quays, we will prepare your tooth by gently scratching at the surface. This will not hurt and enables the composite veneers to stick to the front of your tooth. An adhesive glue is then applied to your tooth which helps the composite material stick to your tooth. The composite veneers are applied in thin layers to the front of your tooth and shaped until it has covered the surface perfectly. Next, a special light is placed over your tooth which hardens the veneers to the tooth. Finally, the process is finished off with a polish to your teeth and you’ll be able to leave the dental surgery in Salford Quayswith a lovely new smile.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dental Veneers

What’s the difference between composite veneers and composite bonding?

Both treatments use the same type of material. Composite veneers are applied to the entire surface of the tooth so that it is completely covered. Composite bonding on the other hand is moulded and shaped so that it only covers part of the tooth.

How long do composite veneers last?

Composite veneers usually last between 5 and 7 years. You can help preserve the life of your veneers by maintaining a good oral hygiene with regular brushing and flossing and keeping your dental check-up appointments. Avoid biting into hard foods such as bread rolls and apples. You should also avoid chewing and biting on things such as pen lids and sellotape which can chip and damage your composite veneers.

Am I a suitable candidate for composite veneers?

Most adults who have healthy teeth and gums are suitable for composite veneers treatment. We will be able to give you more detailed advice at your free consultation.
